Why Russia

For Indian students, Russia remains one of the most established and affordable routes to a medical degree that is recognised by the NMC and taught in English. But the reason EduParity recommends it goes beyond the points every consultancy repeats.

Over the past decade, we have placed students across most of the major countries Indians choose for MBBS abroad, and observed how each route actually performs β€” the admission process, the documentation, and whether what is promised holds up once the student arrives. Russia is consistently where that process runs most smoothly and where the gap between promise and reality is smallest. For the majority of Indian students, it is the destination we recommend.

It also helps that our founder, Dr. Vivek Lathwal, studied and lived in Russia and speaks the language. Our guidance on how a university actually operates therefore comes from direct experience rather than a prospectus.

About EduParity

EduParity is a Russia-specialist MBBS consultancy for Indian students, led by Dr. Vivek Lathwal β€” a doctor who studied and graduated from a Russian medical university. For more than ten years, we have guided students and their families through the entire process of joining a Russian medical university: selecting the right one, securing admission, completing documentation and visas, and settling in after arrival.

The consultancy is built on two principles. The guidance comes from someone who has completed the same path himself, and the advice is honest β€” including when the honest answer is that Russia, or studying abroad at all, is not the right choice for a particular student.

Why families choose EduParity

Guidance from a doctor who has done it

Dr. Vivek has sat the entrance exams, studied in the classrooms, lived in the hostels, completed the documentation, and cleared the FMGE after graduating. Students are guided through a path he has personally completed from start to finish.

Honest, considered advice

We do not accept every student who approaches us. Each family receives an honest assessment of whether Russia genuinely fits their budget, their NEET result and their goals β€” and when it does not, we say so plainly.

A defined method for selecting your university

University choice follows a clear, consistent method. We begin with the student's real budget, then look for a city large enough β€” a population above five lakh β€” to provide strong clinical exposure, and finally confirm a genuine full-English track record with batches that have already graduated. Not every university described as "English-medium" teaches fully in English, so confirming that matters.

A decade of guidance, openly published

Since 2016, we have published detailed, first-hand information about studying medicine in Russia β€” universities, cities, daily student life, and an honest account of each. This content has been viewed more than 13 million times, and much of it reaches families long before they contact us.

We don't stop at admission

This is where most consultancies disappear. They arrange the visa, take their fee, and the family never hears from them again β€” at the point where the hardest part begins.

EduParity works differently. Admission is only the first step toward becoming a doctor; the real work is the years that follow. Through Compass, our mentorship led personally by Dr. Vivek, we stay with students through the journey β€” particularly the first pre-clinical years, which shape everything that comes after. It provides a clear year-by-year roadmap, direct access to him, and a study system so a student's effort is directed where it counts from day one.

To be clear about what it is: Compass is honest mentorship and direction, not a guaranteed FMGE result. The work always remains the student's β€” but it is no longer done alone. See how Compass works.

Straight talk

Who Russia is not the right choice for

We would rather advise a student against Russia than enrol one for whom it is the wrong decision.

If a family's total budget is only around β‚Ή1–2 lakh a year, MBBS in Russia is not realistic in 2026 β€” fees and living costs are higher than that, and beginning a degree that cannot be completed only risks the student running out of funds partway through.

And any student who can secure a government medical seat in India should take it; that remains the stronger choice over studying abroad. For students for whom Russia is the right fit, we make the entire process straightforward.

Other destinations

EduParity specialises in Russia and recommends it for most Indian students. Where a student's circumstances point elsewhere, we also advise on these destinations. In every case, families receive the same honest assessment of what genuinely suits them.

About Dr. Vivek Lathwal

Dr. Vivek Lathwal studied medicine in Russia, graduated as a doctor from a Russian medical university, and cleared the FMGE. EduParity began as a YouTube channel sharing the real student experience and grew into a full consultancy, in response to how much misinformation Indian families face and how little straight guidance is available to them. For more than ten years, that has remained the focus of his work: honest guidance from someone who has completed the path himself.
